This season has been unlike any before for sure. As a result of the ongoing pandemic and the necessary precautions, for the first time the season starts off entirely online. We know that this is not an ideal situation for anyone, but the quizbowl community is really making the most of it by starting off the season strong with already so many tournaments across the nation and at least one rankable tournament per region.
The new online set-up has one benefit, though, as it is now easier than ever to recruit teams in remote regions to start playing quizbowl. If you plan on running a tournament dedicated specifically to outreach or know anyone who is, please take a look at our new Tournament Outreach Fund.

How is Miami Valley ranked higher than DCC, the SCOTTIE Champions?

While DCC won more games, Miami Valley performed statistically better in terms of overall P/G and PPB, and the ranking formula is based on overall statistics rather than being elo-style so MV’s P/G and PPB are what count.
