2019-20 HSQB PRESEASON POLL RESULTS

The following article was a contribution by the entire Groger Ranks staff and many members of the HSQB community who helped out with this poll. Thank you.

Groger Ranks is back for the 2019-20 season! Over the last couple of weeks, we have been running a preseason poll for people to give their inputs for who they think will be the best teams this season. It is obviously all conjecture at this point as we don’t know which teams have studied, or who new players will be to fill in the gaps of graduated players. Nevertheless, it is a very interesting exercise to look back at the preseason polls at the end of the season and see how much we got right! With 20+ ballots being taken into account, this poll reveals some trends for who are the favorites going into the season, yet there is still noticeable uncertainty as there were not many teams who were in every single ballot.

The rankings were conducted as follows: a team was awarded 25 points if they were ranked 1st, 24 points if they were ranked 2nd, etc. all the way down to 1 point if they were ranked 25th. The points for each team were then summed across all the ballots, with the highest and lowest ranking dropped. If a team was unranked in one or more ballots, one “unranked” ranking was dropped as the lowest ranking.

In addition, below is a podcast we recorded Sunday night right before the ballots closed discussing the results. Interestingly enough, a few ballots submitted right at the deadline slightly changed some of the results between when this was recorded and the final standings. See if you can catch the discrepancies!

Thanks so much for your support as always! We here at Groger Ranks are excited to see what this season has in store for us!
